Grilled Steak Fajitas Recipe
Ingredients
- 1 whole flank steak
- For the Steak Seasoning
- 2 teaspoons chili powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon white sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1 tbs olive oil
- For the Skillet
- 1 tbs olive oil
- 1 whole tomato, sliced
- 1 half red onion, sliced
- 1 green bell pepper, sliced
- salt and pepper to taste
- 8-10 flour tortillas
Instructions
- In a separate bowl, mix together all seasoning ingredients and set aside
- On a butcher block or cutting board, beat the flank steak with a meat tenderizer or meat hammer lightly until meat begins to widen and soften. With a kitchen knife cut small incisions against the grain on the surface of the meat to break apart remaining membrane or fat. Most store bought cuts of flank a slightly tough so tenderizing the meat will make it easier to cook and easier to eat.
- Add steak to the seasoning bowl and make sure seasoning completely coats the steak with your hands. Set aside for a about 10 minutes.
- On a skillet on medium high heat, add olive oil until it begins to smoke, add tomato, peppers, and onions and cook until translucent. Season with salt and pepper.
- Add steak to the skillet cooking each side about 5 minutes.
- Remove steak from skillet and slice in strips.
- Serve together on tortillas
