Ingredients
- 16 oz package lasagna noodles
- 1 lb ground beef
- 24 oz jar marinara sauce
- 28 oz can crushed tomatoes (Look for Cento)
- 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley
- 1 clove garlic, crushed and chopped
- 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/2 cup minced onion
- 1 tablespoon dried basil
- 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
- 1 1/2 teaspoons sugar
- (2) 15 oz containers ricotta cheese
- 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 eggs
- 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 2 pounds shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.
- Cook lasagna noodles to package instructions. Drain and set aside. Add oil so noodles don’t stick.
- Place beef in a large skillet. Cook over medium high heat until evenly brown. Stir in tomato sauce, crushed tomatoes, garlic, oregano, onion, sugar, basil and salt. Simmer over medium-low heat for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- In a large bowl, combine ricotta cheese, eggs, parmesan cheese, parsley, salt and pepper.
- In a 9×13 inch baking dish, place layers of noodles to cover bottom of dish; layer 1/3 of the cheese mixture, 1/3 of the sauce, 1/3 of the mozzarella cheese. repeating to create 3 layers.
- Cover with aluminum foil and bake in preheated oven for 30 to 40 minutes. Remove foil and bake for another 5 to 10 minutes; let stand for 10 minutes before cutting. Top with extra sauce and shaved Parmesan cheese. Serve.
