Sausage, Peppers, and Onions sautéed on a skillet, combined with a marinara sauce. Makes great sausage sandwiches serve and a main course
Ingredients
- 14 oz skinless smoked sausage, slice into 1/2 inch pieces (we used Eckrich brand for this recipe)
- 1 tbs vegetable oil
- 1 green pepper, sliced
- 1 red bell pepper, sliced
- 1 sweet onion, sliced
- 28 oz tomato puree (we used Tuttorosso puree for the San Marzano tomatoes)
- 1 cup water
- 1 tsp ground pepper
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tbs sugar
- 1 tbs garlic powder
- 1 tbs basil
- 1 tbs parsley
- bread or buns for sandwiches
Instructions
- In a skillet on medium heat, brown sausage until cooked fully through. Remove and set aside.
- In the same skillet add vegetable oil and sauté peppers and onions until they begin to brown, add salt and pepper.
- Pour tomato puree into skillet, add basil, parsley, garlic powder, sugar and water. Still until well combined.
- Cook on low heat for 15 minutes, stirring frequently.
- Stir in sausage pieces and cook for an additional 10 minutes. Serve hot.
