Enjoy our quick and easy Italian style ground chicken meatballs recipe. These chicken meatballs require 3 ingredients: ground chicken, Italian seasoned breadcrumbs, and a little oil for frying (we add a tablespoon of water to moisten the meatballs to make them easier to roll into little balls but we won’t count that one). Talk about an easy meatball recipe! This is a healthier version to using ground beef, but by all means, using lean ground beef will work with similar results, just make sure you’re using over 90 percent lean ground beef. Ground chicken is great because it has typically half the fat of traditional ground beef. Ground turkey can also be used with basically the same results as well. Today we’re pan frying these homemade meatballs in oil because of the crunchiness it gives the outside of the chicken meatballs, but if you want to go even healthier, baking is also a good option as well (400 degrees, around 20 minutes cook time).
- 1 lb ground chicken
- 1 cup seasoned Italian breadcrumbs, (we used Vigo Italian style for this recipe and you should too!)
- 1/4 cup vegetable oil (or oil of your choice)
- 1 tbs water + 1 tbs if necessary (to help mold the ground chicken into little balls and retain moisture)
- Heat frying pan on medium heat, add oil
- In a bowl combine ground chicken and Italian seasoned breadcrumbs until fully combined.
- Add water and mix together so mixture is a little moist.
- Scoop out balls about the size of a tablespoon and form balls.
- Add to frying pan. Fry for 15-20 minutes, flipping frequently.
- Serve with your favorite meatball sauce, pasta, or bread.
